Quote to Consider:

Richard Bernard on Ruth 1:1: "And if the love of corporal life be so forcible, how much more the love of eternal life, for which we should be willing to forsake all! But, alas, the least worldly gain or carnal pleasure banisheth this love out of many men’s hearts, who rather follow here Elimelech, to leave the people of God to go into Moab for the world, than Abraham, to forsake his country at the commandment of God."

The city of Brisbane, Australia, was hit last week with the flood waters that have inundated Australia. One of the Evangelical Presbyterian Churches of Australia, with whom the PRC have a Corresponding Relationship, is located in Brisbane. Thus far, God in His providence has spared all of the members of the Brisbane congregation from loss of life and property in the floods. Rev. Chris Connors, pastor of the Brisbane EPCA, summarized what they have witnessed: "It has been a display of the awesome righteousness of our God who, though he keeps his promise not to destroy the whole earth again with water, has smitten our materialistic humanism with a very severe judgment. Pray for us that we might have the courage and wisdom to declare the word of God at such a time." Let us remember our fellow saints before our heavenly Father’s throne that they may see in the physical waters the spiritual lesson of Isaiah 43: "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee .... For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour."
