Quote to Consider

Herman Hoeksema on Lord’s Day 12: “The Son was ordained from eternity to become flesh, that He might stand at the head of a great congregation, and declare unto us the Father, and reveal His glory, in such fulness and beauty as the first Adam would never have been able to conceive. He was anointed to do this antithetically, over against a world that loves the lie and walks in darkness, saving out of that world a people that in eternal glory would with Him and through Him declare the glory of Him that called them out of darkness into His marvelous light. The work of the devil and the rebellion of the first man do not frustrate the purpose of God, but must serve His good pleasure to make room for the coming of the Messiah, the anointed of God, as the chief Prophet” (The Triple Knowledge, vol. 1, p. 488).
