Quotes to Consider:

Augustine on heavenly citizenship: "The citizen of the city of God [is] predestined by grace, elected by grace, by grace a stranger below, and by grace a citizen above" (City of God, XV. 1, p. 284).

Gerrit Vos: "Now then, when God has sought you out, and entered your heart by His Word, Spirit and grace, you are blest. Then the earth and all its treasures cannot charm you any more. Oh yes, we have our flesh with us, and it lusts after the things of the earth not only, but also after sin and corruption. But we crucify our flesh, we hate ourselves for Christ’s sake, and we mortify the deeds of the body. Then we do not hunger for heaven for heaven’s sake. Oh no. We long for heaven for God’s sake."

Announcements (subject to God’s will):

Nathan Buchanan was hospitalised this past week to have a feeding tube inserted. The doctors hope that by feeding him through the tube at night, he will gain weight. At this point, he is being fed at the hospital at night but is able to return home during the day. They hope to start doing the feedings at home this week. Let us remember the Buchanan family in our prayers.

Catechism: Monday at 7PM at the manse with the Campbells, and Thursday at 7PM at the Hamills.

Bible Study is this week Wednesday at 8 PM at the manse on Pentecostalism. We will continue our examination of the conditions for the "baptism of the Holy Spirit."

Prof. Hanko will hold a meeting in Porthcawl this afternoon at 2 PM, and will give a lecture on "Hypercalvinism" on Friday in Porthcawl.

Rev. & Mary Stewart visited with Prof. & Mrs. Hanko and some of the other saints in South Wales this past week and attended Prof. Hanko’s lecture in Llandysilio. They found the visit very profitable.

Advanced Notice: A lecture by Rev. Stewart on "Predestination" is planned for Friday, 5 November, in Ballymena Protestant Hall at 8 PM.

The Reformed Witness Hour next Lord’s Day, 17 October, (8:30-9:00 AM, on Gospel 846MW) is "Who is Going to Heaven, Part 1" (Rev. 17:8).

Last Week’s Offerings: £474.30. Donations: £100, £10.

PRC News: Faith PRC called Rev. Cammenga (Southwest, MI). Rev. den Hartog left this past Friday for Myanmar, with plans to be there until at least November 1.
