Quote to Consider:

Prof. Herman Hanko: "[Paul] calls our attention to the fact that when God made His promises to Abraham and his seed, God spoke of seed in the singular, and not of seeds in the plural. This might seem to us a minor point, but upon this use of the singular, Paul rests an important truth. If the promise was made to Isaac and the nation of Israel as a whole, God would have given His promise to the many seeds of Abraham. But Paul writes: ‘He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed.’ But when the question immediately arises: who then was this one seed to whom the promises were made? the answer is, ‘And that seed is Christ!’" (God’s Everlasting Covenant of Grace, p. 83).
